City Ministries' Needs: 2008

Adopt a Life!

“If people back home could work together to sponsor 400 of these children, our ministry to street kids and orphans in Nigeria would expand in a huge way and impact thousands and thousands of lives.”  -Peter Fretheim

Orphans & Needy Children: 

$50 per month, per child (covers housing, food, water, shoes, literacy training, Bibles, medical testing/treatment, & supervision, care & discipleship by full-time Nigerian staff)     

Adopt Our Food Ministry!

“It’s hard for people to think about accepting Jesus or deepening their spiritual life when they are starving and just trying to figure out how to put food on the table.”  -Peter Fretheim

Our largest annual need is for food:  grains, perishables, proteins, cooking oil, pots, bowls, utensils, etc.  Our December (when prices are lowest) 2008 bulk grain purchase is expected to be approximately $50,000 this year.  Total food costs for our entire ministry in Nigeria will be some $85,000. 

Adopt a Gidan Bege "House of Hope" Care & Outreach Center!   

$2,600 each, monthly (covers all operational expenses, including staff, food, improvements and repairs, transportation, utilities, etc.; need 1 or more sponsor for each location, in any amount per month)

Adopt Water, Clothes, Evangelism & Meds!

$6,000 each                 Water bore hole (need 4; produces 10-20 times as much as a well)

$10,000 annually          Challenge Cinema Teams (need 10 sponsors; sponsoring 1 team allows 100,000 Nigerians per year to see the gospel; typically 20% of these people accept Christ)

$8,000 annually           Vaccinations & Basic Medicines (all centers and outreach; need 1 sponsor)

$6,000 annually          Blind Town, lepers & street boys; village outreaches & medical clinics (need 1 sponsor)

Adopt a Building, Computer Lab or Library!

$300,000   Build a Living Compound for 20 Long-Term Western Missionaries (CM headquarters; offices, living quarters, kitchen, dining hall, computer center, equipment, parking; includes naming rights)

$75,000     Build a School/Youth Hostel (for 100 needy children; with staff quarters, kitchen, playground, computer lab; includes naming rights)

$50,000     Build a Care Center (for 75 needy children & their staff, kitchen; includes naming rights)

$25,000     Build an EMS Mission Base Camp (training, rest, encouragement; includes naming rights)

$8,000       Build a Church (need 20; includes the building, a parsonage & a water well) 

Adopt Transportation!

$18,000                        Mini-Bus (need  1 sponsor; for transport of orphans, staff, church teams & outreach)

$12,000 each              Vans (need 4)

$100 each                    Bicycles (need 100; used in remote areas for evangelism)

Adopt a Business!

$4,000 annually           King’s Kids Crafts (need 1 sponsor, supports hundreds of needy Nigerians)

$4,000 annually           Widow’s Vocational Training (same as above)

$350 each                     Cow  (100 needed for milk, food, training; to become self-sustaining vocation)


Adopt Bibles, mosquito nets, safety, beds, fuels, hygiene, generators, sewing machines, wheelchairs or athletics!!!

$4,000 annually           Diesel Fuel & Gasoline (need 2 sponsors; for electricity generators and motorcycles)

$3,000 annually           Athletic Equipment & Games (need 1 sponsor; for physical strength/wellness and fun!)

$3,000 annually           Security:  improved walls, gates, lighting, dogs (need 2 sponsors)

$900 each                     Toilet/sink/plumbing/septic system (need 6)

$100 each                     Sewing Machines (need 12)

$70 each                       Wheelchairs (need 200)

$12 each                        Mosquito Nets (need 200; window & door screens included)

$5 each                         Bibles (need 2,000)


“Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”   -Luke 12: 33-34

All donations may be paid monthly, quarterly or annually.
